We all want to have fit, trim bodies, right? How do we get in that phase of life? We eat healthily. We work out. We drink lots of water. God wants us to be healthy. If we look after our health, we can function better.
Well, the spiritual Kingdom works the same way. We are, as Paul states, “Running the race with perseverance.” Hebrews 12:1
That’s the beauty of living in the Father’s Kingdom with a Father who is never absent and always committed to being involved.
So, how do we train for a race?
Spiritually speaking, we’d feed on the Bible, get as much scripture into us as possible. We notice a bit of spiritual flabbiness – procrastination – starting to go. We pray, exercise our mouths; big, bold prayers that move heaven and mountains along with it. We gain spiritual muscle – strength. We drink in the living water – Jesus – we are refreshed and filled up. We are looking good. We do this daily with passion and intent.
Now, after all that preparation, building our most holy faith, Jude 1:20, we are fit enough to run our race.
Ready to go again? On your marks, get set, GO FOR GOD!
2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
